【摘要】:p>Manycoatingpropertiesaremarkedlyaffectedbythefilmthicknessofthedryfilmsuchasadhesion,flexibility,andhardness.Tobeabletocompareresultsobtainedbydifferentoperators,itisessentialtomeasurefilmthicknesscarefully.Mostprotectiveandhighperformancecoatingsareappliedtomeetarequirementoraspecificationforthedry-filmthicknessofeachcoat,orforthecompletesystem,orboth.Coatingsmustbeappliedwithincertainminimumandmaximumthicknesstolerancesinorderthattheycanfulfilltheirintendedfunction.Inadditiontopotentialperformancedeficiencies,itisuneconomicaltoapplymorematerialthannecessarywhencoatinglargeareassuchasfloorsandwalls.Surfaceroughnesscanaffecttheaccuracyofthistestmethod.Aroughsurfacehasatendencytoscattertheultrasonicpulseandoddreadingsmayoccuroccasionally.Thistestmethodmaynotbeapplicabletomeasureorganiccoatingthicknessonallsubstrates.Theinstrument''sabilitytodetectadistinctinterfacebetweenthecoatingandthesubstratemaybeimpededifthecoatingandthesubstrateareofsimilarcompositionorifthecoatingisnon-homogeneous.Verifyoperationonaknownthicknessofthecoating/substratecombinationifthesecircumstancesarethoughttoexist.Multilayeredcoatingshavemanyinterfacesandtheinstrumentwillmeasuretotheinterfaceseparatingthetwomostacousticallydifferentmaterials.Someinstrumentshavetheabilitytodetectandmeasuretheindividuallayerthicknessesinamulti-layersystem.Theuseofthistestmethodisnotnecessarilylimitedbythetypeofsubstratematerialasnondestructivemagnetic-typeoreddycurrentmeans.1.1Thistestmethodcoverstheuseofultrasonicfilmthicknessgagestomeasureaccuratelyandnondestructivelythedryfilmthicknessoforganiccoatingsappliedoverasubstrateofdissimilarmaterial.Measurementsmaybemadeonfieldstructures,oncommerciallymanufacturedproducts,oronlaboratorytestspecimens.Thesetypesofgagescanaccuratelymeasurethedryfilmthicknessoforganiccoatingsonconcrete,woodandwallboardsubstrates.1.2Thistestmethodisnotapplicabletocoatingsthatwillbereadilydeformableunderloadofthemeasuringinstrumentastheinstrumentprobeisplaceddirectlyonthecoatingsurfacetotakeareading.1.3Theeffectiverangeofinstrumentsusingtheprincipleofultrasonicsislimitedbygagedesign.Athicknessrangeof0.3to600mils(8x03BC;mto15mm)hasbeendemonstrated.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
