Title:Fine Wire Mesh for Filter Elements

Scope:This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) discusses the nature, method of manufacture and chemistry of fine wire meshes of the type used for filtration and similar applications, and how this information may be utilized in setting up a quality control program to insure reliability of meshes used for such applications. By fine wire meshes, we refer to all wire meshes used in the manufacturing of filters for the aerospace industry. This includes not only the very fine meshes used for filtration, but also the coarser meshes used as backup or supporting materials. Thus, this AIR pertains to meshes as coarse as 10 x 10 or coarser, as well as to meshes as fine as 400 x 2800 or finer.
