【摘要】:Thistestmethodistheprocedureofchoicefordeterminingvolatilecontentofsheet-fedandcoldsetweboffsetinks.Thisinformationisusefultotheinkmanufactureranduserandtoenvironmentalinterestsaspartofthedeterminationofthemassofvolatileorganiccompoundsemittedfromtheink.Note38212;SincetheseinksdonotcontainwateroranymaterialscurrentlyclassifiedbyUSEPAasnegligiblyphotochemicallyreactive(exemptsolvents),volatileorganiccompoundcontentisthesameasvolatilecontent.Thevolatileorganiccompoundsintheseinksarehighboilinghydrocarbonoilswhichare,accordingtoUSEPAguidelines,95%retainedintheprintedsubstrateoroxidizedintotheinkfilm.Therefore,themassofvolatileorganiccompoundemittedfromtheinkwouldbecalculatedasonly5%ofthevolatileorganiccompoundcontentoftheinkasderivedfromtheresultsofthistestmethod.1.1Thistestmethoddescribesaprocedurefordeterminationoftheweightpercentvolatilecontentofsheet-fedandcoldsetweboffsetprintinginks.Testspecimensareheatedat1101Cfor60min.Note18212;Coldsetweboffsetprintingisoften(also)referredtoasnon-heatsetweboffsetprinting.1.2Thistestmethodisalsoapplicabletosheet-fedandcoldsetweboffsetprintinginkvehicles.Note28212;Vehicleistheliquidportionoftheprintingink.Anysubstancethatisdissolvedintheliquidportionoftheinkisapartofthevehicle.1.3Thistestmethodisnotapplicabletoultra-violet(UV)orelectronbeamcuredmaterials,whichmustbecuredbyexposuretoUVlightoranelectronbeamaspartofthetestforvolatilecontent.1.4ThistestmethodisbasedonTestMethodD2369,inwhichtheallowablerangesare177;0.1gforspecimenweightand177;5176;Cforoventemperature.Interlaboratorystudieshaveshownthatspecimenweightandoventemperaturemustbothbemoretightlycontrolledinordertoimprovetheprecisionoftestresultsforsheet-fedandcoldsetweb-offsetinks.Suchinkstypicallycontainawiderangeofhigh-boilinghydrocarbonsandoftenhaveavolatilecontentbelow25%.1.5ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Foraspecifichazardstatementsee7.5.1.
