【摘要】:1.1Theserequirementscovercordreelsforgeneraluse,aswellascordreels-hereinreferredtoasspecial-usecordreels-intendedtobemountedonorinelectricalutilizationequipmentsuchasappliances,portablelamps,orsimilarequipment.ThesecordreelsareintendedforuseinaccordancewiththeNationalElectricalCode,NFPA70.1.2Theserequirementsalsocoverreelsforuseinfactories,householdworkshops,garages,commercialfacilitiesandconstructionsiteswhereanadditionaldegreeofprotectionagainsttheriskoftheentranceofwater,dustorothercontaminatesmightbeneeded.1.3TheserequirementsalsocovercordreelsforuseabovebutnotinhazardouslocationsincommercialgaragesasdefinedintheNationalElectricalCode,NFPA70.1.4Acordreel,ascoveredbytheserequirements,isareelequippedwith,orintendedforusewith,alengthofflexiblecord.Thereelprovidesameansforthecordtobeunwoundbytheuserasdesired.Thereelisprovidedwithatake-upmechanism,bywhichthecordisrewoundonthereel.Themechanismbywhichthecordisextendedorretractedtothedesiredlengthmightormightnotbedrivenbyamotor.Alatchisprovidedinsomecasestorestraintheactionofaspringtake-upmechanismwhilethecordreelisinuse.
